How Much Do Stickers Cost? What the Price Really Depends On
A sticker's price depends on a handful of factors. Know them, and you can compare two quotes fairly.

You have two quotes in front of you. Same logo, same size, same quantity, and yet one is noticeably cheaper. Ask “So how much do stickers cost?” at that point and you will usually get the most honest answer there is: it depends. That sounds like an excuse, but it can be broken down quite precisely.
A sticker whose corners lift after the first winter gets seen too, by the way. Just not the way anyone intended. So what sets the price, and where does cutting costs backfire?
You will not find any euro amounts in this article. Our shop koeck-print.at will be online soon, and there the configurator will work out the price for your sticker. Until then, this overview helps you read quotes properly.
Quantity: why the first sticker costs the most
Before the first sticker comes off the machine, work has already been done. Someone has set up the file for print, set up the machine and checked the first print. At the end, everything is packed. This setup effort is barely greater for a hundred pieces than for one.
If you order a single sticker, that one piece carries the whole share. With a hundred pieces, a hundred stickers split the same share. That is why the price per piece falls with quantity. Digital printing and plotter cutting need neither a printing plate nor a cutting die, so even small runs make sense.
Where volume pricing flattens out
The saving has a limit. Once the fixed share is spread over many pieces, what remains is vinyl, ink and machine time. Beyond a certain quantity, a larger run hardly brings anything more per piece. Doubling the order at that point mostly fills a drawer.
Our shop will charge a fixed flat fee per order item, plus an area-based rate that gets cheaper as the area grows. So volume pricing depends on the area, not only on the number of pieces. In the shop you will then be able to order even a single piece. There is no minimum order value, but the flat fee also applies to a single sticker. We quote very large quantities on request.
Area and format: big costs more, small costs more per square metre
The basis of the price is the printed area. Every square metre carries vinyl and ink, plus machine time. A larger sticker therefore costs more, but not in the same proportion, because the rate per square metre falls as the order area grows.
Why small formats cost more per square metre
The cutting plotter shows why. For every piece the blade starts again, and every metre of cut length takes its time. A small sticker has a lot of cut edge on little area. A hundred small stickers with the same total area as one large one therefore mean many times the cutting work. That is why the price per square metre is higher for small formats. Which size suits which use is shown in the article Sticker sizes and formats.
Shape and cut: with us, round costs no more than rectangular
Rectangular, square, round or oval: in our shop, these shapes all cost the same. Circle and ellipse are simple, even paths for the cutting plotter. For these shapes from the configurator, your file does not need its own contour line either.
The free contour that follows the outline of your design is a different matter. There the blade changes direction constantly, setting up takes longer, and weeding, that is, peeling away the surplus vinyl around the sticker, takes more manual work. So the free contour costs extra in our shop. That's how we price it; other suppliers set their own rules.
Individually, on sheets or on rolls
Stickers are delivered individually cut out, on A4 or A3 sheets, or on rolls. On the sheet, the blade cuts only the vinyl in a kiss cut, and the backing paper stays whole. Which cut suits which purpose is explained in the article Kiss cut and other cutting types.
Material, laminate and white ink: the big levers
The material is one of the biggest price levers. Roughly from cheaper to more expensive, our range looks like this:
- Removable monomeric standard vinyl for indoors: for stickers that are meant to come off again later.
- Polymeric vinyl for outdoors: the standard as soon as the sticker is exposed to the weather.
- Special vinyls: high-tack for difficult surfaces, translucent or PVC-free.
- Premium cast vinyl: for the demanding cases.
PVC-free vinyl costs noticeably more in material than the polymeric standard vinyl. More on this under PVC-free stickers. The material also decides how long the sticker lasts: the manufacturers state clearly different values for outdoor use for each type of vinyl. What these figures mean is explained in How long do stickers last?
Laminate: matte costs us the same as gloss
Our standard sticker comes without laminate. A protective laminate, matte or gloss, is available at extra cost, and with our standard laminates both cost the same. So you choose by look and use, not by price. The differences are shown in Matte or gloss stickers? How large the extra cost is depends on the laminate itself.
One exception: vinyls with dot-pattern adhesive, which are easy to put up and take down again, get no laminate. There, leaving it off is a requirement, not a budget option.
White ink on clear vinyl
If your logo is to sit on clear vinyl, on a glass door for example, the machine prints white first. Without this layer, the colours look see-through and pale. White ink printing takes more machine time than normal colour printing, and because the machine is charged by time, a sticker with white ink costs more. More on this under White ink on clear stickers.
Files, design and shipping: what can come on top
We check every file technically before printing, free of charge (in the shop, the option “Data check”, “Datenprüfung” in the German-language shop): format, resolution, bleed, contour line, white layer and print direction. Content and spelling are not part of it. If something is not right, we get in touch. Clean files that follow our guidelines save back-and-forth. What that involves is under Print files for stickers. On top of that, there are:
- Professional data check (“Professionelle Datenprüfung” in the German-language shop): a paid option. With it, we correct your file ourselves instead of only asking.
- Design: a separate service, for example from a sketch. You get a quote in advance, and it is charged by the work involved.
- Proof: choose none, a digital proof or a printed proof (“Standplott” in the German-language shop), which is a printed sample of your design on the material you have chosen.
- Production type: besides standard production, there are faster options at extra cost.
Shipping
Shipping is handled differently across the market: some suppliers charge for shipping separately, others include it in the price. A low price per piece with shipping on top can end up costing more than a higher one with shipping included. Ask what the price covers.
Comparing prices: what to look out for
Two quotes can only be compared if they describe the same thing. Check these points:
- Net or gross: is VAT already included?
- Shipping: included or extra?
- Laminate: included or not?
- Material: removable or permanent, monomeric or polymeric?
- Shape: rectangle or free contour?
- File check: at no extra cost or paid?
Gross, net and what an online shop has to show
For private customers, this is clearly regulated in Austria. Under the Price Labelling Act (Preisauszeichnungsgesetz), prices quoted to consumers must be stated gross, that is, including VAT and all other charges and surcharges, and anyone who also shows a net price must state the gross price in its immediate vicinity. This act does not apply to transactions purely between businesses. As a business customer, you should therefore look closely at whether net or gross is meant.
Online, there is something more: a shop must make it clear whether VAT and shipping costs are included in the price, towards businesses as well as private customers. Private customers are also told the total price, including taxes and any shipping, before they order. Our shop will show every price net and gross, with the tax rate. The rules can be looked up in Austria's Federal Legal Information System (Rechtsinformationssystem des Bundes, RIS) and at the Austrian Economic Chambers (Wirtschaftskammer). This section is a guide for comparing prices, not legal advice.
A typical case: first 50 club stickers, then 250
A typical case: a football club needs stickers with its crest for its summer party, round, about five centimetres in diameter. It orders 50. For a moment the club considers having the contour cut exactly along the crest. It sticks with round, because the crest sits in a circle anyway and the free contour costs a surcharge.
The stickers soon end up on water bottles and sports bags, and for the next season the club wants 250. File, shape and material stay the same. The price per piece drops noticeably. The fixed share for setting up the file, setting up the machine and checking is now spread over five times as many stickers, and the larger area slips into a cheaper band.
The club does not jump straight to 1,000, even though the price per piece would be a little lower still. The treasurer works out what one season needs. The rest would end up in the clubhouse cellar.
Our view from the workshop: the cheapest sticker is often the most expensive
Our founder has more than 30 years in the industry; the company was founded in 2017. That is where our attitude to price comes from.
The expensive one is the sticker that lifts at the edge after one winter, on the company car or the glass door. Then you pay twice, once for the old sticker and once for the new one. Add the time spent with a hair dryer and scraper removing the residue, and the time before that, while people see your logo peeling.
Our advice: save on quantity, not on material. Better 50 stickers on the right vinyl than 200 on the wrong one. A sticker that hangs in the shop window for the length of one promotion does not need premium vinyl. Anything meant to stick outdoors gets vinyl made for outdoors.
Conclusion: how much do stickers cost? Clarify first, then compare
What a sticker costs is decided by quantity, area, shape, material and the extras. With three answers, you will get quotes that describe the same thing:
- Where will the sticker go, and how long should it last? Indoors or outdoors, on which surface? That determines the material.
- How many do you really need? For now and for the next reorder.
- Which shape and which extras? Rectangle or round, free contour, laminate, white ink on clear vinyl?

Frequently asked questions
Why does a sticker cost more per piece when you order 10 than when you order 50?
Every order has a fixed share: setting up the file for print, setting up the machine, checking, packing. It is hardly larger for 50 pieces than for 10. With small quantities it weighs heavily; with larger ones it is spread over more pieces. Beyond a certain quantity, the price per piece hardly falls any further.
Does a contour shape cost more than round or rectangular?
In our shop, yes. Rectangular, square, round and oval all cost the same, and for these your file does not need its own contour line. A free contour that follows the outline of the design costs a surcharge: the blade changes direction more often, and weeding takes more manual work.
Does the file check cost extra?
No. We check every file technically before printing, free of charge: format, resolution, bleed, contour line, white layer, print direction. If something is not right, we get in touch. If you want us to correct the file ourselves, there is the paid option “Professional data check” (“Professionelle Datenprüfung” in the German-language shop). Design is a separate service that we offer on the basis of a quote.
